Pre Operative Instructions

Pre Operative – 2 Weeks Prior

Avoid all products that might interfere with blood clotting such as aspirin, ibuprofen (Motrin/Advil) naproxen, and even vitamin E, garlic extract, and alcohol.

Pre Operative – Night Before Surgery

  1. Take preoperative medicines if you were instructed to do so.
  2. Do not eat or drink anything after midnight.

Pre-Operative – Day of Surgery

  1. Do not eat or drink anything.
  2. Take all scheduled medication including high blood pressure or heart medicines; however, only have a small sip of water.
  3. DO NOT drink a lot of water. Your stomach must be empty for the surgery.
  4. Remove contact lenses.
  5. Do not wear makeup.
  6. Leave valuables and jewelry at home or with family members.
  7. Take a taxicab or have someone drive you to the surgical site.
